trouble with ellipsis 10

my ellipsis 10 said that I was over my data limit and shut itself off. I pressed the power button and the red startup screen came up. The device started but as soon as I tried to go into my system settings to see what was going on, it shut itself off. So we did the above again, and again and again my husband tried too. Both of our tablets are doing the same thing. I've tried periodically throughout the day with no change. The weird thing is we have not gone over our data limit. Even weirder is that we've been over our data limit many times and this has never happened before. Any ideas?
