Why is Family Base Companion not compatible with LG G4?

I'm not happy that I can't install the companion on my son's LG G4. He has Marshallow, which is supposed to be compatible.  I get the message "Your device isn't compatible with this version" when I go the app.  Is there a later version I can use?  Really not happy.
