The Presidential Alert message will not disappear from my phone. It activates after every phone call and text message.
The message clearly states that NO ACTION IS NEEDED.
Why does this alert persist on my phone?
Every time it reoccurs? Yikes! How are you dismissing it? Which phone model do you have? Have you tried reseating the SIM card and rebooting the phone to see if that helps?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
I take no action, as the message says no action is needed.
LG G5, Android 8.0.0
The alert happens every time I end a call. It isn't alerting on the text messages at this time, only for the first few days.
I have powered phone off a few times, with no change.
have you clicked ok??
Nowhere on the screen is the word OK. So, no, I haven't clicked OK.
Did you click on "Dismiss"?
Nowhere on the message is the word dismiss, therefore I can not click it.
It appears as if your phone is not displaying the message correctly. Some examples of how this should be displayed on your phone can be seen below:
Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) - Example of a Presidential Alert - Android OS | FEMA.gov
Trump won't be sending 'presidential alert' from his phone, FEMA says - CNNPolitics
If your phone is not displaying the message correctly, you may have to reset your phone to get it to disappear. You could first try clearing the cache and if that does not work, you may have to clear the phone completely.
I have not heard of any other examples of this happening on any phone.
You could also contact FEMA. Contact info available at the following:
The text of the alert is like that of the example in your link. The reason for the political link is unclear to me.
The message did not arrive as a text message, it arrived as an alert, like an Amber Alert. I have never had to do anything to remove the Amber Alerts in the past.
This is becoming too much of an annoyance to bear, especially since there has been no reply from a Verizon representative.
