Has Verizon provide a security patch for the text message vulnerability for android phones that was announced today?

I just want to know is my LG3 vulnerable to the text message vulnerability announced today.  The news said that all the hackers need to do is send a text message to your phone and they can take your phone over even if you didn't open the message.  The news also stated that Google was made aware of this vulnerability weeks ago but has not done anything to rectify the vulnerability.  So has Verizon done a patch thru Verizon Protect?  Anyone know?

Mmmm Verizon... The longer you stay silent on this issue, the more you look like GM's handling of the ignition switch problem.. and subsequent consequences...

GM = equimpment manufacturer.

HTC, Samsung, LG, etc = equipment manufacturer

GM is the equipment manufacturer which supplies the fix, just as HTC, Samsung, LG, etc... will supply the fix for Verizon to push out. Until the equipment manufacturer supplies the fix, Verizon can do nothing.

Thank you for this link -- it gave me most of the answers I was looking for -- it still seems like there is no definitive answer and that the vulnerability while complicated is still there and needs to be addressed but ... hopefully LG and Verizon are working to correct the issue asap.

m turning off my text messaging until Verizon delivers the patch. Maybe if they lose usage income from enough android users they'll be motivated to deliver the patch. Or allow us to exchange for a non-android phone without penalty.

Seems Google is taking steps. Now it will be up to LG and Verizon. Per this article, it looks like sometime this month Google will provide a patch. Let's see how serious LG and Verizon take it and see if they get it out pronto.
