stuck on apple icon

My iPhone6 is stuck on the apple icon and won't reboot.  I have a new computer and had not downloaded itunes, so I did that, but there's no backup.  I've tried all the tricks I know.  Please help.

REDHEADCOUNSELOR, this is most concerning to hear as having a working phone is a must. Help is here. It was stated that all the tricks have been tried but may I ask, what exact steps have you taken?
