Wow, that sounds lame. Have you tried holding down the home button and the power button for about ten seconds to make the phone reset? That would be my first suggestion. If that doesn't fix things, I would get the phone to power off however possible, even if it means to let the battery die, and then put it in recovery mode. Link below for recovery mode instructions.
