Text problem. NOT receiving SMS from non iPhone users

I am not receiving texts from non iPhone users. I have people telling me they are sending me an SMS but they receive an error message on their end. But, yet, I am receiving iMessages. Anyone else having this problem. I wanna say it started yesterday, 8/19/2012, possibly Friday. Any suggestions are welcome.
