IPHONE4S wont connect to wifi

iphone4s wifi option was grayed out and I could not turn wifi on or off. After a day, and trying several tricks I found online I finally got my was allowed to turn my wifi on. However, now it won't find any wifi connections, if just continuously searches for wifi networks. Any suggestions?
