While making or receiving a call all I can hear is a lot of static and popping noises. I went to Verizon store and she cleaned the speaker with a brush. It worked for awhile now doing the same thing again

First, your not using a regular speaker with a mylar or paper cone. The sound comes from a very small part called a Sound Transducer. Dirt and dust tends to collect in the protective screen of this part and sometimes blocking the normal sound output. You can clean this yourself with a can of computer air. Do not aim the air stream at the device, but blow the air across the device in quick burst while using a small soft paint brush to help free the dust. If this does not improve your sound it may them be a network or device issue.  Hope this helps.
