Apple iPhone 4S. Most calls go straight to vm, phone does not ring or vibrate. Those that get through and I answer appear as "missed call" in phone app. No notifications on texts either. What's going on?

On my Apple iPhone 4S, most calls go straight to voice mail.  The phone does not ring or vibrate.  I have 4 or 5 dots of reception.  Text messages will not ring or vibrate either.  I get a Message app or Phone app about a few seconds after the call or text was attempted saying "missed call".  When a call does get through and I answer it and connect with the caller, the message in the phone app is "missed call".  What's going on?

Is the sound switch above the volume buttons turned on to the silent mode?

Look no further help is here! Let's put a stop to those missed calls and make sure your text messages are working properly.

Did you make sure the phone was not in silent mode http://vz.to/1yjWCRE? Try this http://vz.to/1l5gRwr and retest. Keep us posted if the issue continue.
