I upgraded from an old Droid to Samsung S7. On the new phone, there is no feature to dictate a text rather than typing. The microphone icon creates an audio text message. Is there an app that will allow me to dictate my text messages?

You don't need an app; long-press the key on the keyboard just to the right of the Sym key (if you haven't used it yet, it'll probably look like a gear for the Settings menu). It should give you a pop-up where you can toggle the microphone, clipboard, and Settings (and emoji if using Verizon Messages) The key 'remembers' which toggle you used last.
