Why don't I get Verizon Messages+ notifications on my pc?

I have verizon messages set to notify me of incoming messages on my pc, yet neither the pop-up or the sound occur, It did work when i first installed the program. i tried repairing the program and uninstalling and reinstalling, though neither worked. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

I'm running windows 8.1

Don't know why, but today message+ is working perfectly on my computer. I installed some windows updates and restarted. Maybe that had something to do with it.
