Long-press an empty space on a home screen until you see Widgets at the bottom, then tap it. Scroll over to Contacts and tap the right arrow next to the word Contacts. Choose which widget you want to use (Contact - takes you to the contact's listing in your Contacts; Direct Dial - as soon as you press the widget the call is made; Direct Message), then long-press and drag it to where you want it on the home screen. Once you let go, you'll be taken to your Contacts. Scroll to the contact you want associated with the widget and tap it. The contact should now be on the home screen.
