Upcoming Windows 10 phone from HP, will VZW finally get in the game?

Was over on WindowsCentral.com looking at their "Best Phones of 2016" and just about lost it when I started reading up on the new HP Elite x3 Windows 10 phone.

They just unveiled it at MWC last month and all I can say is WOW!!!

It is designed as an "Enterprise" level phone, but it has what have to be THE BEST specs of any phone made right now, bar none.

Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 2TB capable Micro-SD card slot, 4100mAH battery (only thing I don't like is it's sealed case, but it is water and dust resistant to MIL specs).  Continuom enabled and add-on accessory dock for said use.

Coolest part was a basically a ultra-book laptop shell that you connect the phone to, which then provides a 14in display, plus it's own battery and additional USB and UBS-C ports.

This phone is targeted toward the business sector as an all-in-one device, eliminating separate laptop, tablet, and phone devices.

It will be a beast and is just the first in what will hopefully be more high-end Win10 phones in the coming months and years.

My question is this.  Is Verizon going to finally realize that BUSINESSES want and need phone like this, not the Swiss cheese for security Android garbage and out-dated Iphones?  Hopefully they will wise up finally and release their death grip on OS updates so MS phones can lead the way to better phones.

It would benefit their company and their stock holders, so it's a win-win all around.

Until HP pays to have it go through the federal regulations and certifications, it wouldn't be supported by Verizon Wireless.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Verizon is already offering three WP devices so as long as HP includes a CDMA radio there is no reason NOT to carry it. That is, provided HP doesn't demand a minimum order to include CDMA.

It is my understanding that HP will not be providing the device for sale via carriers.  It will be for direct sale by HP and possibly the Microsoft Store.  And just remember, while the internals are very good, HP is not going to be providing things like an ultra highend camera and so forth.  It is being built as a highend enterprise device without some of the bells and whistles that appeal to many of the non-enterprise users.

While the prototype didn't include CDMA, the Qualcomm chip does support CDMA and I believe that HP does intend to have a CDMA version.  Given that CDMA has a sizable enterprise market share in the US, it would be stupid of HP not to.

This device will not be sold by carriers, only by HP. It has been certified to work on AT&T. HP is working with VZW to get it certified per Windows Central. Keep your fingers crossed. This device looks AWSOME.

HP would be absolutely stupid to NOT have this certified on Verizon.

As much as I dislike VZ for their heavy handed approach to updates and such, they still have the biggest business user market out there nationwide and if HP is wanting to take market share from Blackberry and Apple, they will certainly have to get this phone certified.

Microsoft didn't pay to have the Lumia 950 models certified. BlackBerry didn't initially on the Priv android phone. HTC didn't on their One A9 phone. It could be a matter of cost and how much market share the companies want to go after.
