I was able to navigate to "Clear Credentials", and I tapped it. The letters in "Clear Credentials" dimmed. Then I went back out and Powered the phone off. When I powered it upu again, it still wanted a PIN to enter my screens, which was the Screen Lock I had on before started all of this. So the above routine apparently did not work. Help?

Yes. You need to go back to your Lock Screen settings after clearing credentials to select a new lock screen pattern, slide, PIN, or none, Face, etc....
