Iceshadows,
We certainly know how exciting it is to receive a software update to your phone. A software update often times comes with many exciting new features. At this time, we don’t have a release date. When the update does become available, your phone will alert you to perform the update. At Verizon Wireless, it is our number one goal to make sure that your phone is in tip top shape all the time. Is there any issues that you are having with your phone? We’re always here to help!

Like other companies Verizon doesn't announce OS updates until they start rolling out.

If you don't want to wait you can flash the factory image. Google re-homogenized the versions.

They are all homogenized now. There is no specific rom for specific carriers.
There's tutorials that'll teach you how to set everything up which I can't link here.

Yes the previous versions were not homogenized now they are. There is no longer a different rom for the Nexus 6.

Google search XDA Developers. Verizon will delete the link if I put it up.
There you can find a tutorial on how to flash the factory image into your phone.
