Why did my battery life go from 60 hours to 6 hours ow that I have lollipop? I tried the hassle of factory resetting and it's still around 6 hour battery life. Not to mention the phone feels like it's on fire.

Lollipop is crap, reduced my battery life by 90%.  That's correct, from 60 hours to 6 hours.  And that 6 hours is with almost no use.  It's less than 2 hours with use.

I have to stick with my tried and true method above.  I can list the steps that have helped most people with your complaint and give reasons as to why you have the issues and why this resolves those issues.

Skip steps 5 and 6.  I know this sounds like a lot, but it works.

1.  Stay plugged into charger for the entire process

2.  Charge to 100% and back up music, photos, files etc...contacts should be saved to Google Account and use Google Drive or Google Photos to back up with as well and apps are saved in a list in your My Apps screen in the Play Store app and online using the desktop page.

3.  DISABLE Google backup and restore of apps and app data in your Backup and Reset tab in your phone's main settings screen.

4.  Factory Reset the phone

5.  Download and/or Install update from notification bar (may have to manually check for update in About Phone/System Update to kick start it) at next boot/power on after skipping set up if possible

6.  Phone will reboot after installation.  Factory reset one more time as soon as possible before setting up the phone (you may have to press the back button a few times to escape the set up screen, or you may be able to skip it.  Just go back to the Backup and Reset tab and FDR again.

7.  Unplug from charger at 100% recharged

8.  Set up your phone however you like to include apps from your My Apps screen in either the Play Store App or from the PC webpage version

9.  Leave phone on until it powers off

10.  Leave off and recharge to 100%

This is my usual process and I have had no issues.

The reasons for disabling app data is due to the fact that DAVLIK is now ART and the Android Optimization process might not go as planned if you just slap the new OS over the old OS.  Also, when you go back to the Play Store to download apps, they will be the correct version this time for this OS.

All I can tell you is that I still get 32 hours between charges.  IDK where you get 60 hours from unless you have it in airplane mode and never turn on the screen.  One thing most people didn't do was to disable app and app data back up when they factory reset after 5.0.2 was installed.  If you have done these things, you have a defective phone.  You should have it replaced under warranty, if applicable.

I use it maybe 1 to 2 hours a day and before the update it lasted 2 and a half days.  After the update it is lasting around 6 hours with basically no use and burns my leg when it is in my pocket.  Something is seriously wrong with lollipop.  I'm trying different options i the app manager and doing what I can.  Hopefully that will help.  I've had others tell me that it could take a couple of days to "settle" down.  Does that sound right?

The "settle down" theory is true. After I let my phone discharge till it shut itself off and charged it completely a couple of times I noticed considerable improvement in my battery life.

That will help with the battery, but it seems OP has some app data conflicts and that is why the phone is hot...something is running amok.

Oh, I didn't catch the part about the phone being hot. A squirrel must have ran by me as I was reading! Lol

That's a definite problem. If it's hot enough to burn somebody I wouldn't even mess with it and just get a replacement.

The replacement is a good option if the steps above do not work, but of course the G2 is far past LGs warranty period.  Having the extended with Verizon would be the only option, and of course OP would have already had to have added that to the account.
