Confusion with call blocking

I'm confused about call blocking. Earlier today I blocked someone's cell phone number through my Iphone settings (not through the actual verizon wireless website)and wanted to make sure that this particular person gets the pre-recorded message of the call not being able to be completed due to call restrictions. I decided to test it out by blocking a land line. When the land line called my phone, it rang once/twice and then went to voicemail. Do people only get the pre-recorded message about the inability to complete the call on a cell phone? I

As far as I know, any blocked caller gets voicemail after 1-2 rings, unless someone doing the blocking has an app that either picks up and hangs up automatically, or lets it through, but mutes the ringer.

That's where the confusion comes from. After reading other threads about call blocking the responses I saw from vzw was that the blocked caller should hear a pre recorded message about how the call couldn't be completed.

Does the pre recorded message just apply to people calling the blocked number that have verizon wireless also?

I'd think it'd have more to do with the process used to block a caller.  Verizon's blocking feature vs an app or a phone's OS settings might all differ in how they block a call.  To me, Verizon blocking the call would or should give the recording.  An app or phone's OS would not.

If you block a number through your MyVerizon account online and it is a Verizon Wireless phone number, that person will get a message indicating that the call or text message can't be completed due to restrictions on the line.

For non-Verizon numbers, I believe those get a message when attempting to call, but not when sending a text message.

When you block through the phone, there won't be a message.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
