A method from Snn5 fixed the nightmare that was my phone after I updated without any type of preparation. I just read the message telling me that there was an update available for my phone & I should make sure it was charged / plugged in and it would take how ever long and was I ready to proceed? And I (much to my chagrin) clicked Yes. And for the next few days was convinced that I had permanently ruined my phone. Then I came on here and another member, Snn5, was kind enough to answer my questions AND offer a possible fix. I followed his instructions, to the letter and I got my phone back! I could not be happier with it, well I could but that has nothing to do with the current problem ;}
If you are at the end of your rope due to this update I suggest you follow a method offered by Snn5.
