Why can't I receive text messages after switching from an iPhone?

I just switched from an iPhone to the galaxy s5. I turned off my imessages before deactivating my phone but I am still not receiving any text messages. I can send them but not receive. Anyone know how to fix this ?

We want you to receive all of your messages at all times. Sorry to hear that you have been having troubles while connected to your new phone.
