Any suggestion welcome

Hi,

I am going to Korea for three weeks.  I heard the Verizon 4G phone ( like Galaxy 3, iphone5s or iphone 6) is already unlocked so that I can just purchase sim card in Korea and use Korean carrier.  I thought I have to unlock somehow before I travel, but now I hear different story.  Is there any one who have tried and help me?
