How can I get apps to display on my home screen?

my home screen is blank and no apps are on the screen, how can i reset this?  It is responding to touch but there is nothing there and i can get to the settings by swiping from top down.

That is definitely odd and we are certainly here to help. Did this happen recently or has the device been like this for some time? Any recent changes since it started?
