My phone is locked and wants a PIN. I never set a PIN. Do I have to reset and loose my info?

I never set up a PIN but my Phone is locked and requiring one.  Do I have to loose everything and do a factory reset?

Android should prompt you to enter Google credentials to unlock the phone after 2-5 wrong passCodes.

Nana 2 dogs. I would say it was unlikely the phone locked itself. Someone must have played around in the security settings and all is lost...

Unfortunately I just had that happen to me the other day and I had to factory reset it but all my contacts and messages came back automatically because I backed it up.  

Verizon does not store your password and cannot help you with it.
