Why does my Galaxy S4 not respond sometimes? It just seems to get stuck.

In a variety of programs and apps, but most often text messaging, my Galaxy S4 just stops responding to my touch on the screen (and sometimes even pressing the home, power, or volume buttons). Other times, it reacts very slowly. I have tried adding some apps to address potential problems, all from CleanMaster, like junk cleaning, antivirus, battery saver,  etc. I don't know if it's working or not. It doesn't seem to be.

That is one of my favorite devices, somervillesis! Lets get it figured out. Do you know if your device is lacking memory? Go to settings > From the Internal Storage or SD Card section, view the remaining space (located under available). Are you using the stock message application? Have you tried to clear the thread and try again?

Provide more details so that I can better assist.

Thank you,

Thank you for responding. Whether I have enough memory or if I am wasting memory on things I could save somewhere else (or delete) is something I wondered about. I am fan of my phone and the Android system, but not well-versed in it. I moved a lot of photos to the card and/or the cloud at one point, but I am confused about to tell what is where. But that is for another Community posting probably.

To answer your questions:

In Storage, it says I have 16GB Total Space and 3.95GB Available Space. The SD Card says 7.39GB Total Space and 1.81GB Available Space.

I don't what you mean by "stock message application" or "clear the thread".

Thanks!

The 'stock' messaging app is the standard one that came with your phone.  Clearing the thread means deleting all your messages.  You do this by opening the messaging program, open each different set of conversations, click on the trash can in the upper right of the screen, then confirm you want to delete the messages.
