Just trying to gather data on post-Lollipop S5 phones. I know we hear about all the problematic ones but is there as many success stories and if so what is different between those that are working and those that don't.
I know on my Samsung S4 I ended up disabling Google Location Reporting and Google Location History and using Power saving mode for Locating method, with these settings I was able about double my battery life.
If you have an updated S5 and the battery life isn't significantly different, what settings do you use that may be helpful to others here?
Things such as Location (as mentioned above), bluetooth, wi-fi, how much are you on wi-fi versus mobile network, how much travel time during a day on average, how much are you using your phone during a day, etc. anything you can think of that may contribute (either positively or negatively) to your battery consumption.
What shows as your top consuming apps in Battery or using other apps like GSam?
What steps did you take after the update that seemed to help (clear cache, app updates, play store cache clear, etc.)?
Lets see if we can help everyone out (this doesn't seem to be limited to S5, I see similar issues on Nexus devices after the updates as well).

Looks like there's no one experiencing a successful upgrade? This post is 4 days old and no one has replied with any positive feedback. Pretty sad.

Updated 2 phones 2 days ago,so far everything is great. No issues, battery life is same or better on both. Was very worried after reading so many post about how terrible the update was. I'll try to update in a week or so.

I was intending this to be about what worked and not all the problems, hard to dig through 100's of posts to find any success stories.

This latest upgrade has not been good. Phone is slow, constant messages about calendars need to be selected (I have calendars selected) and contacts stopped working and closes. I did clear the cache as I found in some instructions which also did not help. Battery life is pathetic. I have rechecked all my apps and do not have anything on there that I don't want or use except for the bloatware. Wish I could eliminate those. Does anyone know when a fix for to resolve the issues associated with this latest update will be pushed out?
