I have the droid turbo and also have a network extender at my home due to bad cell reception in my area. When I am at home I have trouble sending and receiving group text and pictures. I can send and receive regular text messages to a single recipient no problem. I know I'm not receiving the messages because I get an alert that says "unable to retrieve message from .....". Anyone have a fix for this?

We want to make sure all your messages are flowing through no matter what phone you're using, jl283101. Since group messages and picture messages do need the cellular network to send using the default Messaging application, this may present a problem if you are relying on your home WiFi for the data signal on your phone along with the extender for voice services. But no worries! As an alternative, Verizon Messages http://vz.to/1q9CHkE will allow you the ability to extend your phone's messaging coverage to send and receive messages over your home's WiFi connection so you can continue to conserve your data using your WiFi while still staying in touch with your friends and family through messages.

Hi jl283101, with the messages that you are not able to receive, can you ask what format and size these messages are, from the sender? I believe Verizon has a 1.2 MB limit in the size of transferable text messages, and support most formats, but not all.

After reading more discussion I think the issue might be that I have a network extender and the droid is missing something to make the 3g work while the WiFi is on. Seems to work fine if I turn off WiFi. But this uses more data and is not feasible to do all the time. Hoping Verizon has an answer????

It seems unlikely that the Droid Turbo would be missing something with regard to 3G. Where the only difference between 3G and WiFi is how they connect to the internet.
3G uses a cellular network that connects where ever there is mobile service. Which gives a lot wider range, than WiFi.
WiFi depends on the range to you're computer router, or hot spot from a public place.

You wrote > Since group messages and picture messages do need the cellular network to send using the default Messaging application
That would be incorrect. Wether using the cellular network or wifi, picture messages can be sent and received, between Verizon phones.
Even if one of the users doesn't even have Verizon service or any cellular service they can still text data back and forth using computer software, but be limited in including a picture attached to the text message.
It will be interesting to see if Verizon Messages app helps?

I've been home using the network extender with WiFi on. I switched to Verizon messages and so far seems to be working. Sent and received both group texts and pics. These were to other Verizon customers but I'm hopeful this is going to be the fix. I originally used Verizon messages but had trouble getting even SMS texts but for today it seems good. Thanks for all the help

Excellent. I was thinking a weak wifi connection that was causing it. I think Verizon Messages is the native text messaging with KitKat and above. goodluck

Hi Snn5, thought it was? When viewing Compatibility and Customization #4.
On some devices it does not replace the native texting app. Assumed that means for a device that doesn't have KitKat.
