Backup assistant deletes contact pictures

I have a galaxy s4 and every time backup assistant runs it deletes some of the profile pictures from my contacts.  Some I have to readd every couple of days, some it never deletes.

Anyone know how to stop this?

Lets keep things running smoothly on your device! Do you have any other services that sync with your contacts such as Facebook?

I do not have any other services syncing my contacts that I know of.  Definitely not syncing facebook contacts.

It happened again last night.  As soon as I got the notification "Backup Assistant Plus complete" I checked and all of the contact pictures I added since the last backup was removed.

Hmm. That's definitely strange, Terry0044. When you are editing the contact, are you setting the picture for the Google Contact or the Phone - Cloud Contact? You can see this by selecting one of your contacts and chosing Edit, then seeing what the contact is labeled as in the upper section of the information. Are the pictures you are setting as contact images saved on your phone or SD card memory?

My wife has the same problem with her S4. She is continually losing the contact pictures. They are set to her device. What is the solution?

jppdog,
That is an odd occurrence. Let's figure things out here. Does she happen to have those contacts synced with anything else, like Facebook or Google +? When did this start happening?

Ever since she had the phone. We tried to ensure her Contacts were set to display "All Contacts" yesterday, but all we got was that her SD Card was initializing. So, it may be a problem with the SD card?

We appreciate all of the details you have shared with us. We will figure out the sd/contact issue together. HAve you tried to insert the sd card in a different phone? Do not format the sd card as that will delete the contents.

My mistake. It is not the SD card. It is the SIM card. I took it out and reinserted it last night - same result. When I entered Contacts and tried to view "Contacts to Display" it says "Sim card initializing" and then it just stays there without doing anything.

We appreciate the clarification. Do you have your contacts saved anywhere else to any other email accounts or applications?
