Accessing Verizon Website - challenge

Okay Verizon - why is it so darn difficult to log into your site? Like most folks, I have (literally) over one hundred sites on the internet that require a user name and password. Since I have a high level of security setup on my browser, I block cookies. So, every time I log into the Verizon site, it runs me through a gauntlet of passwords and challenges that FAR exceeds what even my most secure banking contacts require.

There is simply no need for this. I use LastPass to log into sites and a simple user name and password would work just fine. If you want it to be more secure, just require more complex passwords! The Verizon login sequence is so complex that I can't program it into LastPass and I end up having to look it up every time. It's a real pain and an unnecessary roadblock for a simple Telephone site.

Please make this easier!

and if someone were to log in and order 10 950 dollar phones and bill them to yoru account would you be upset security wasnt enough? or how about someone goes online and adds long distance and calls africa at 4.99 a minute for 2000 minute for the month.    It takes 30 seconds to answer your security question and another 10 to type in your password.

That’s the typical answer we hear from folks in this overly security conscious environment. I use 128 bit encrypted passwords, randomly generated for every website I log into. I have websites with direct access to all of my banking and financial records. None of them is structured so that it is impossible to automate the log in process. Only Verizon is designed to require me to physically type the password!

Because of that, we use a less secure password on Verizon than we use everywhere else. My educated opinion is they have very poor user interface designers. If I only had one user name and password to remember, Verizon would be no stress. But I only log into the site on rare occasions and I have to go through several minutes of effort every time. I don’t think its any more secure than the process I use on Schwab, Chase or any other - its just more hassle.

Thanks for the info.  I guess I won't be using LastPass, it sounds like a piece of junk with no realistic options.
