I recently started a new job and I'm finding that in this area, I'm having a hard time sending text messages. They will go through on occasion, but most times take 4-5 attempts to resend after receiving a "message failed" error.
I receive texts just fine - authentication texts from websites are received within 5 seconds, but replying to a personal text that I received doesn't work so well.
I seem to have a reasonable signal, 3-4 bars and signal strength usually stays around -76 to -84 db, so should be plenty to send a text.
I've tried removing battery and sim card, and that didn't help.

Thanks for those details! I do see there are some opportunities in your area that may make it difficult to maintain calls or make/receive texts while indoors. Since everything does work well when not in this area, I'm confident this is not an issue with your phone!
You can sign up for Verizon Messages and message online from your computer while at work! Check out all the details about Verizon Messages right here: http://vz.to/1nc69na

Which Messaging service are you using? The one that came with the device or another one?
Have you attempted trying another messaging app?
Does this happen with new texts threads you start and with replies?

I'm using the standard messaging service on my galaxy s4. I've not tried another messaging service.
This seems to happen with all outgoing texts.

Thodapp,
We'd love to help get your texts sending again. Is this issue only happening in your new workplace? What zip code are you in when you experience these delays/errors?

Zip code is 48117 and during work hours 8 am - 5 pm
The issue still occurs frequently, but only in that area. I can send and
receive as normal elsewhere.

It's unfortunate that the solution to my problem is "use your computer".
This isn't really an option as I'm not at my desk often at all, and need to
communicate with coworkers while out and about.
Is there any other solution? This is clearly an issue with your coverage
and I'm not satisfied with this resolution, as it does not solve my
problem.
Thanks
Tim

I appreciate you following up, Tim. Have you been able to download Verizon Messages? I would suggest downloading to see if its possible to send through this application. This can be done directly from your device and you don't necessarily have to be at your work station.

Yes, I've tried this application as well as Google hangouts, and they all
experience the same issue of trouble sending texts. It may take 5-6 tries
in any of those apps to send a text message. I haven't even tried a picture
message as I'm sure that'd never work.
Is there anything that can be done about the signal quality? This is a
highly localized issue, but even as I type this I have 3 bars of 3g
coverage, and yet still have issues sending texts.
There must be a better resolution to the issue.
