Hello jseda!
I'd love to review your options for repairing a cracked cell phone. Once a device is damaged, it is no longer covered under the warranty, which is what Gungrave223 is referring to. The warranty does only cover manufacturer defects.
However, Asurion insurance does cover damage, as well as lost and stolen devices. If you have Asurion insurance, you would need to file a claim and pay a deductible. If you replace with insurance, your device is still under warranty, while if you have it repaired at an independent facility, that voids the warranty on your device. If you have insurance, we highly recommending using that route to replace the phone. A claim can be filed on Asurion's website. http://bit.ly/1qBgsD8

well if your insurance is the one that Verizon, Asurion, offer with phones, you might have to go to a repair facility, the insurance that Verizon offer only cover manufacturer defects. It does not cover accidental damage.
This is a copy of the warranty http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/terms/products/extended_warranty.html
Section 4 aka 'IV' states what is not covered.
