Hello!
I've started the petition "Verizon: Update the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, Note 3, LG G2 and other devices to latest Android KitKat 4.4.2." and need your help to get it off the ground.
Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here's the link:
http://www.change.org/petitions/verizon-update-the-samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-3-lg-g2-and-other-devic...
Here's why it's important:
Verizon has always been the last carrier in providing updates to smartphones. These devices listed are not obsolete by any means. This gives users who do not want to upgrade the opportunity to enjoy the latest features of Android Version 4.4.2, aka Kit Kat.
The latest tactic that Verizon used was to say the Galaxy S5 had Android Kit Kat while the Galaxy S3/S4 did not have it, thereby using a new phone as a marketing gimmick.
Verizon also needs to be forthcoming with information about updates. Verizon employees are kept in the dark, therefore causing Verizon Wireless Customer Service to speculate. This causes different answers to be given to customers from Verizon Customer Service. Transparency is needed in how they handle updates. Customer notification is also needed. Social Media can be used as a positive outlet to inform customers about upcoming updates.
As it stands right now, by neglecting to update these phones, Verizon is neglecting their loyal customers.
You can sign my petition by clicking here.
Thanks!
Brian LG-G2

Yawn. You are complaining to the wrong company. The manufacturers are the ones in charge of the code updates.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I don't appreciate the tone of your message Ann. Plus everyone already knows that LG sent out the code back in January for Kit Kat to the carriers.
What I am doing is for the greater good of everyone. Verizon has to roll these updates out sooner. They did not have to use the Galaxy S5 as a marketing gimmick that it has Kit Kat versus the S3/S4 which did not.
The tells me that Verizon has no intention of offering up KitKat on the S3/S4, and probably not on the G2 either, since we are about a month away from the announcement of the G3.
Guess the only way we can get the latest Android is to root our phones, which voids any warranty, or us customers put pressure onto Verizon. Customers are standing up for themselves against Verizon, telling them "We are not stupid consumers."
Some may choose to upgrade for the latest Android. Most don't see the need and still have a year or more left on their contracts. How is that fair to the end consumer?
We already pay an arm and a leg for Verizon service. We shouldn't have to deal with this nonsense of gimmick marketing and Verizon's refusal to update their devices

You really don't understand the system update process. Verizon Wireless doesn't touch the code. The manufacturer do. Verizon Wireless only certifies it. If it hasn't been released yet, then the certification failed and it sent back to the manufacturer for additional coding. Both LG and Samsung have dozens of devices to update and each one takes time.
My whatever and don't care "attitude" is the result of reading four years worth of whining about where an update is and the update "broke" the phone from every other community member on this community and other forums. It has gotten old. I had the S4 with JB and I don't see how KitKat 4.4 is going to improve it. Before you ask, I do know what KitKat 4.4 looks and acts like since I have a Nexus 7 tablet with it.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Kit Kat is not that big of an update? Pffft...that is the best I heard yet. NFC emulation? Can't do that on JB. Google Wallet...nope, not on JB(atleast not by default). There is lots of stuff that is in Kit Kat that can't be used with JB.
I am not rooting my phone to install the failed 24A that is floating around. Plus I am not voiding my warranty.
I wonder why so many people are bitching at Verizon now? Just take a look at the postings today? People are fed up with shoddy service and being taken advantage of.

Yes, hopefully Verizon will see just how many customers it is aggravating by not giving us the update.

Before you sign any more petitions and get your panties in a bunch you should know,KitKat is actually out now. No one tells us this stuff either. It is not available as an OTA update pushed to your device. You have to install the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant for the device. From there, plug in your device via USB and follow the directions. I did it and it really is KitKat. Good luck!
