Is there a way to add a website as "safe/okay" when using the Parental controls? It sometimes blocks websites that are perfectly fine for children.

I understand what you're looking to do, and would love to help. Though we don't have a way to override the filter that has been set for the content, but you may want to review the different content filters that we have, as well as their restrictions. Check them out here: http://vz.to/Xtcobv
Once reviewing the details and the differences in the content filters, you may want to change the setting. I hope this helps!
