Problems in Verizon store

I went to the Verizon store in Brooksville, FL last Monday morning to purchase a new phone.  I was told there would be a 20 - 25 minute wait.  After 30 minutes I checked to see if my name was still on the list and was told it would be 10 more minutes.  Finally after a total of 45 minutes a salesperson called my name.  He asked me in a gruff voice "What do you want", I told him which phone I wanted (I had done my research and had already decided).  He told me that it was too technical for me.  (I am a 66 year old woman - with lots of electronics experience,)  He also told me I would need a SD card for the phone.  He never asked me if I was due for a new phone or even my phone number and never checked my account.  I felt he didn't want to deal with me and was probably glad when I left the store without buying anything.

I went to Best Buy and had just the opposite experience.  There was no waiting, they were glad to sell me the phone - half price of Verizon's.  And no it didn't need an SD card to work but I could take the card out of my old phone and use it in the new.

Moral of the story - go to Best Buy!!!!

Good for you, I like to see people vote against VZW people that treat customers badly.  That VZW person discriminated against you because of your age and I might say very badly on his part.  This sort of thing which I have experienced as well.  I just turned 70 in February.  I have been in electronics and computers since the very early 1980's.  Many stores have missed out on a bit of money with me because of this.  I will about always go somewhere else but usually I just go home and order off the internet.  I am to the point now where I usually by my phones either at Swappa.com or EBAY and take care of getting it online myself.  Once in a while I need something else done I can't do but I do that over the phone as it is hard to tell how old someone is over the phone, these 20 something and 30 something VZW people just don't realize some senior citizens know more than they want to give them credit.

There was no need for you to be treated like that. You should call corporate and file a complaints. Some of these youngsters need a wake up call and not to take it for granted that they have jobs.

They don't appreciate what they have.

Moral to the Story good for youSmiley Happy, I'd Like to hear more stuff exactly like this because my folks my mom being 78 and my Dad 68 they'd probably be in the same boat he probably thought you needed a non smartphone and Senior Plan!  Mam if you can I'd either get a hold of his Manager or find out the Number for the Verizon District Manager and call that person let him know of your recent visit and the attitude of the Representative I bet with a call that Rep. will refrain from treating a Customer like that again.. And as for waiting mam I have my visit when I got my  ONE m8 I stood around for an Hour till I was waited on and when the Rep which was courteous was trying make the change of my two phones it took a while but never less he got it done..

I have not doubt about how elder people are treated at VZW stores.  It has been shown to me very explicitly and I am not going to experience it again unless I have an issue with one of the phones I have on my plan and I can NOT take care of it myself.  I have never been into other carriers stores so I am not sure about those but I would say not much different.

However I don't have the age issue. They cannot even believe I am 60

It is in the attitude you project. My wait at the store is nil, I have them jumping over one another to serve me. Once they look at me and hear how I speak (No not in a low voice with ah hems etc) They know I am one mean 60 year old.

Then again I look way younger so who knows. I still have to worry about bar fights at the places I drink at with my friend who is huge and mean and way older than I.

It is all dependent on how you handle yourself in my opinion.

Hey B so your mom married a younger man....sweet!

Good Luck

They treat me way better at BB and I seldom buy anything at BB.  I go to BB to look and feel products I think I want.  After looking I come home and find it on the internet  and then I have it in my hands in just a few days and with what I pay is usually worth the wait.  The VZW stores I have to go to are about 2 hours or so away and I always have about 20 - 30 minute wait which is not nil and when you wait that long you are not in the mood to listen to anything but yes sir - no sir or even just a simple yes or no.  I usually have a similar wait at the DR when I have to go there but that is not the same.  NOT EVEN CLOSE.  People project an attitude they given from the people they meet and many of those people at those stores do not project a good attitude to the customers they meet.  When they project a good attitude to me they get a good attitude back.  It is just that easy with me.

Well so far my experience at the store or stores I go to has been fairly good I've known the Rep that helped me for a long while but even though he knows me I still have to wait in Line not whining  but it can be kind of a drag waiting for an Hour but as for my home town Store I haven't bought a phone at this location since 2008 and won't because the Manager has a reputation for not wanting to return Items even if the item is under 14 Days..
