I'm interested in getting a new phone and extending my existing Verizon contract, but only if I can use the phone overseas (Europe, Asia, Australia) and if I can buy and use local SIM cards. Does an S4 (or any other new Verizon smartphone) come unlocked, or can it be unlocked? With Verizon support? I was able to do this with an AT&T phone with AT&T tech support guiding me through the process.
If this will not work for me with a Verizon phone, I'll buy an unlocked phone and go with TracFone or similar service.
Thanks

Yes, with a warning. You can use ANY Verizon 4LTE phone overseas with a foreign carrier's Sim card, but only for talk and txt......not data. For data, you'll have to add Verizon's overseas service, use your Verizon Sim card, and pay the Verizon rate.
