I just ran my order number through the Verizon order status site and I there is now a FedEx Tracking Number listed as of 11:00 EST. FedEx lists the item as "Picked Up" in Memphis, TN today (9/22) at 11:22AM EST. The delivery is scheduled for Wed, 9/25 by 4:30PM. I still have no email from Verizon regarding the shipment, however.
I ordered the 32GB gold version of the iPhone 5S.
I ordered via phone on 9/20 at 12 am PCT and was told my phone would arrive today after paying for 2nd day air. Today after tracking my order I was told by 3 different customer service reps (going up the ladder) that my phone would arrive 10/14 then 9/24 and then as late as november. I wasted 2 hours on the phone trying to get my situation rectified only to be told these phones were in high demand, and they don't actually know when they will ship.
The night I ordered I had asked if anything on my order was on backorder and was told no. I have had a $50.00 free accessory pay off proposed which is laughable, and have since posted my convo with verizon chat on gripevine.com. and Publikdemand.com.
I completed my order at 1:26AM on the 20th Mountain Time. (0026 Pacific Time) I got an email stating Ship By the 24th. Then a couple of days ago I had a tracking # for fedex which states delivery on the 25th. The weird thing is that I have gotten no email from Verizon saying that it was shipped.
Long story short, it looks like a lot of us are a bit confused and hoping like a kid on Christmas morning that Santa shows up on time.
It's crazy how many of us are having the same issues. I decided to finally switch to verizon because of all the great things I'd heard about it. Ordered the iPhone 5S at 12PST on 9/20, got an email confirm that my order was placed and in process. The order status like most of you has been stuck on that since the original date. My card hasn't been charged yet and my order status has not changed. It's so frustrating, I've called customer service, internet sales, and even business sales all to no avail. I just want to know what is happening. My brother who ordered an iphone 5s on the morning of 9/20 through AT&T already had has phone delivered to him this morning. I'm kind of regretting my decision to switch to Verizon instead of another carrier.
What a bunch of nonsense. Ordered 5s at 3:16 AM Eastern on 9/20, received the standard "WSB 9/24" email and nothing since. After not hearing anything from VZW in terms of tracking or even a delayed Ship By date, I called to make sure the order was still in fact goign through etc. Then my blood pressure rose as I was told Oh, sorry, yours isn't shipping until 10/7. The standard ** response of "Its Apples fault, not ours" was trotted out. Of course I know Apple is the reason why VZW doesn't have enough devices to meet demand, but APPLE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION. That is on VZW and VZW alone. Send me a goddamned email saying its delayed. While I wouldn't be happy about it, at least I would be informed and could tailor expectations differently. There is no excuse for that, I should not have to call just to find something like this out, it should be communicated. If it could be found by the customer service rep I spoke with, then surely it could have been dropped into an email.
I'm in the same boat. I ordered the gold right after they went on sale and was told the 24th would be the ship date. Today I called Verizon again and they said October 14th is now the ship date. The lack of communication is the frustrating part. If I hadn't called or checked my tracking info I would have been waiting and waiting for delivery tomorrow.
I am very regretful for the delay in your shipment and even more so that we weren't able to communicate this to you quicker. There was definitely supposed to have been an email sent out and I sincerely apologize this wasn't received. It is always important to keep you and our other customers informed so you're able to make the adjustments you need! I do look forward to the receipt of your phone as I know you're going to adore it. If you do have any other questions, please just ask!

I think the majority of us are upset not only at the fact in the lack of timely communication, but the fact that we were never updated on the expected shipping date at the time we placed the order. Verizon had to have known how much stock was available to be shipped on certain days. Why would it take 4 calendar days to realize that there was not enough stock to be shipped. We were baited into placing our orders with certain expectations on delivery and then switched last minute to deliveries weeks later. The fact now is that we have no choice but to keep our orders with Verizon, if we were to cancel and place new orders anywhere else we would most likely have to wait till late October. If I would've known of the delivery date of Oct 7th when I placed my order, it wouldn't have been a problem. I would've gone ahead and ordered my phones through Apple. I did not stay up to order my phones at midnight to have them delivered in the third delivery window. Just terrible on Verizon's part start to finish, actually it's not finished yet, because who knows when I will actually get my order.
I guess at least we have VZW's sincere regrets and apologies to compensate us!!!
At least you guys got some sort of ship date out of them. I was told that we'll ship the phones out when we get them from Apple??? What a joke. You're trying to tell me that you don't know when you will have orders filled to fulfill your inventory that is already pending to be delivered??? If they would have put real time delivery updates on their website as orders were placed people would not have false expectations of receiving their orders on a date that VZW obviously can't deliver on. They could have also given people the option to look at other avenues to get the phones instead of expecting to receive them in a time falsely promised.
I understand your discontent with regards to the delivery of your phone, I am a consumer too and I would be upset as well if I experienced delay on a phone delivery. Please be assured that we're making every effort to expedite delivery of all orders. Please visit this link http://bit.ly/RjmCUB often to check the status of your order.

Hi Antonio, the order status web site is a complete waste of time. I've checked it every day regarding my order and it STIlLL has ship date of 9/24 five days after the date has past.
Verizon has lost my trust that they value me as a 15+ year customer. I hear a lot of words, but what's lacking is any real actions to back them up. You can play the victim that this was a supplier issue, but when you look at what Verizon could have controlled and ,managed- you have dropped the ball and point fingers at others for the problems.
This experience along with all of the poor customer service lately makes me as a long time customer contemplate if VZ is the best vendor to provide my cellular service.
I placed my order at roughly 3:15am on 9/20 and my order too said that my 5s would ship by 9/24. I initiated a chat w/ a Verizon rep and was actually told that the 24th was the day i'd RECEIVE it, not the day that it'd ship. on the 22nd, after still not receiving a tracking #, I called customer service and was told that the other rep was wrong and that the 24th was not the delivery date, it was just the day it would ship out. I still didn't receive any type of communication until this evening when I got an email from VZ stating that due to high demand they "anticipate" the new shipping date to be 10/7. I understand that the supply is limited but VZ should have given proper estimates when I placed my order. They sure got my money on time. Had the shipping estimate on the site been correct, I would have just picked the phone up directly from Apple the day it was released. Will I live another week without the 5s? Of course... I just am used to expecting much better customer service from Verizon. Virgin Mobile is looking real attractive right now.
I went through Iphone 4, 4s, 5 pre-order processes and receive the phone on promised dates.
Not this time, I pIaced my order on 09/20/2013 at 3:10 am EST and received a "Ship by" date of 09/24/2013. Called Verizon twice today and got conflicting info. One rep said it should shipped tonight (09/24/2013) and another rep said not until sometime in October. Just received the same email as everyone that the estimated shipping date is 10/7/13.
To All Verizon Employee/ Management,
Many people here are frustrated and angry that you cant fulfill your "ship by" dates. During the ordering process your website had a "Ship by" date before checking out. To me a ship by date means it will SHIP BY the date your website says. Heck, the email conformation even states ship by 09/24/2013.
Have I managed my expectation incorrectly?
Ship by dates are just estimates of when it could ship. It certainly doesn't mean that it would be delivered by that date. It is when it gets picked up by the FedEx Shipping (VZW 's preferred shipping method). There is also the issue of supply and demand. There are XX number of gold iphones and yy number of the space gray version. If the gold version order was 2 times the XX amount then there will be delays for half of the orders. Some goes for the space gray model.
Does it take 4 days to count the orders? I would think with computers and all that it can be tallied up fairly quickly. Probably in the milli-second range. It shouldn't take 4 days to realize you sold more than you had.
BTW, I think we would all be happy if FedEx picked up our orders on 9/24. Ship-By date seems pretty clear...
I completely understand how excited you must be to get your new iPhone. This iPhone is in such demand that it has caused unexpected shipping delays. The good news is that your order is already in the queue and you are guaranteed to receive your phone! Now you will receive an email with the updated shipping date for your device.

I called at 4 and was told by the rep that my phone was shipping today. She even said she spoke to her supervisor and he confirmed it. This was noted in their system (per the next rep I talked to). Then got the 10-7-13 email. I called and the rep told me it was delayed until 10-7. I asked how Verizon prioritizes their orders. He couldn't provide an answer. First come (ordered) first served? He didn't know. Asked to speak to a supervisor. He agreed and said he had to hold his hand in the air until one came over. One did after a long wait. He didn't get on the phone. The rep told me the supervisors do whatever they can to avoid talking to customers. Great system. Glad I'm a customer. I could tell the second rep I talked to was frustrated with Verizon's incompetence. I don't blame him, but after reading all the posts about ATT customers and Apple Store customers getting their phones, I am seriously thinking if I want to be a Verizon customer.
Ordered 2 5S phones at 2:20am central time on friday. Got an email to confirm my order at 2:24am saying they would ship 9/24. Now at 9:40pm the day my news phones are to ship verizon emails me saying do to high volume my order will not ship until 10/16. They will keep me updated if the date changes again. I ordered in the first 25 minutes. Verizon has changed my account for the hardware and is now going ship it to me when ever they won't. I am so disappointed I may cancel my order and service. I'm not on a contract.

Be careful when you say you may cancel. I was talking to a rep and said I should cancel the order. Imagine my shock when I got home and found an email stating my order had been cancelled. After 2 more hours on the phone, I have a new order for a different color, and a potential ship date of 10/15. Not okay. I ordered at 3:00 am on the 20th, and will be waiting almost a month for delivery. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known they weren't available. False advertising.
Well I suppose I got what I asked for as last night I received an email saying my shipment was, like some of you, delayed until 10/16. And that is of course the anticipated shipping date, which at this point none of us can take comfort in staying as is and not moving to a later date. And this is where Apple deserves a **** of heat; you cannot roll out a product and be this far behind demand. Wait three to four weeks to meet demand better. On a product that they update every 12 months or so, and which many people tend to upgrade right along with those annual updates, delaying receipt by close to a month diminishes the useful shelf life before the next rollout (although I suppose if they keep messing up rollouts like this you still get your pound of flesh in terms of 12 months of usage). A technological and business giant like Apple should not misread demand/supply for a known seller like the iPhone quite this poorly.
The customer service representative I spoke with yesterday gave me a tip in terms of vociing concerns to VZW over these issues. See the link below, which is a level of executive leadership. He suggested contacting via email the appropriate person(s) for yoru geographic region etc. I did and actually got a call back from that person's office this morning. Nothing changed, I did not expect it to, but at least there is some sense that at an executive level (and not just the CS rep you get on the phone) VZW understands consumer frustration. Take 5 minutes and do the same:

I'm in the same boat as many of you. I ordered a 64gb Gray by 2:12 pm central and received confirmation it would ship by 9-24. Last night I received an email at 9:40 PM saying the new shipping date is now 10-7 and they will let me know if that changes. Let me guess, I'll get another email late on the 6th stating a new shipping date. If that happens I'm done with Verizon! I should dump them now. I've been a good customer for MANY years and this is how I'm treated..shame on you Verizon!
So much for "First Come First Served"!
I was told my shipping date was 9/24 and then after not getting tracking info, I initiated a chat today and was told that an email was sent out about delays on the 24th. I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL. at all. nothing. Then I'm told it won't ship until 10/7 now. I haven't even received an email saying mine was going to be delayed, yet it is. I've checked my junk email too. Funny thing is everyone else is getting their phones and phones are being shipped to stores! It's absurd. Fill your preorders before you start shipping them to stores. I keep checking for this mystery "email" to show up and tell me that it's been delayed, but there isn't one.

This is ridiculous in this day and age. Inventory tracking is not a difficult process. Other companies do it just fine. I ordered my iphone at 12:01 PST and was told that it will ship 9/24. Now I receive an email postponing it until 10/7. I called and asked if I can change to a silver or white one, but am told that it will take longer if I switch from Gold.
Earlier in this thread I see that VZW left a link to check the status of our orders. I tried it and it still tells me 9/24 ship date.
Really VZW? Are you really a technology company? Is it a lack of skills or a lack of integrity that inhibits you from providing accurate information.
So, thanks Verizon for nothing.
I actually cancelled my order that might ship 10/7 and went on Apple Store and order online for local pick up. A few hours later I walked out of my local Apple Store with the exact phone I woke up in the middle of the night to preorder.
Moral of the story- I waited and was aggravated for absolutely no reason. Waiting until today, I was able to order and receive the phone well before Verizon was ever going to ship me a phone. Why wait???
Customer support- you've been nothing but corporate cheerleaders with fake smiles, empty words, and inept & toothless words of support. In the end, you brought nothing of value to the situation and you're attempts at comaraderie were seen by everyone as counterfeit bereft of any true compassion.
Customers will leave when they feel they aren't valued- and I'm don't feel valued or appreciated. It'll be hard to forget this experience when I consider my cellular options next time.
