Xoom will not boot up - can I manually apply system updates?

I am attempting to fix a Xoom that has stopped booting up.  I do a soft reset and it will go through the 2 seconds of the Motorola "M" logo, then it will start to swirl colors - then freezes and never recovers.  I've gotten into the Android system recovery and I'd like to install system updates (or potentially restore the OS) but I cannot find anywhere to download the necessary files to do so.  Can anyone help me find update files?

Is there anything else I should try to get this working?

Thanks,

Evelyn

@ecrofts,

Having a device that won't power on is definitely no fun at all and I'm here to help bring your Xoom back to life!

Before you perform a hard reset let's try something others have found helpful when their Xoom would not power on. Hold both of the volume buttons and the power button at the same time until the device powers on. This should help get your Xoom turned on.

If the device still doesn't power on your can visit here http://vz.to/10GOPdl for steps on how to install updates and  http://vz.to/v6wuXK for steps on perform a hard reset.

Keep me posted if you need further assistance.
