I've just signed up to add Mobile Hotspot to my data plan, to try it out. I've succeeded (with a little difficulty) in making the WiFi connection between my Stratosphere I and my laptop, and it works well with 4G. But I'd also like to try a tethered connection via USB cable. I got it set up on the phone's end (being careful to set it up as Internet connection mode, not Mass storage mode), but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get Windows 7 (Pro 64-bit) to find this connection on the laptop. It doesn't seem to show up as either wired or wireless. Can anybody tell me where to look? Thanks!

Unfortunately I have no idea either. I have only used the wifi style Mobile Hotspot connection.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I'm not familiar with Windows 7, but it is a wired connection. Turn off your WIFI on that computer and reboot the computer and it should find it, I think.

Thanks, Jim. I'm going out of town for a few days (to a place where my phone will be my Internet connection), and I'll try this out and report back when I return.

Well another big THANKS FOR NOTHING to Verizon. If you upgraded your phone or if it automatically updated to the new version 98.72.16.XT912 / 4.1.2 you will no longer be able to tether your phone to your laptop and use the internet you are paying for already. Now Verizon is charging you extra to use the tethering service. Also, if you haven't exchanged your phone yet and you are still one of the few lucky ones to have unlimited internet....say goodbye to that as well. As soon as you get that shinny new phone, your unlimited is now limited! I changed to Verizon because it gave better options to their customers. Now Verizon is following everyone else....charging for tethering, taking away unlimited data. Well Spring isn't, so guess where I am going.

Tethering has always been extra. If you've been using it for free you're luck they haven't charged you retroactively.

According to Verizon Tec, this just started when the new XT912 version came out. I guess they are getting swamped with calls of the same issue.

I just did a software upgrade and i am just FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I have unlimited data and I am a road warrior that tethers my phone for business use. this upgrade eliminated the ability to tether without paying more. WHY CAN THESE IDIOTS LET US KNOW WHAT THE SERVICE CHANGES ARE THAT ARE GOING TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE WE DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I am SO )(*&^^%$&&^$$() pissed off. Huge waste of time.
ARE YOU LISTENING VERIZON EXECUTIVES!
