I am currently using an enV3. I have basic voicemail. I am upgrading to a Galaxy.
My fiance was killed and I have one voicemail from him that I cannot lose. I have read that voicemails are lost when switching to an iPhone. Is the same true for upgrading from a basic LG phone to a Samsung smartphone?
It is extremely important that I am 100% sure my voicemail will not be lost before I switch phones. Thank you so much for your help.
I'm sorry for your loss. Voice mails are stored on Verizon's system, not the phone, so I would think you'd be ok. However, if it were me, I'd check into the service Verizon has for preserving voice mails. Check out this link, then scroll toward the bottom about permanent copies of voice mails. They charge $10, but to me, it would be worth it.
You might want to go to an actual store and talk to them. I don't recall ever being able to carry my voicemails over to a new phone, as activation of a new phone seemed to always reset everything, but then again it was pre-smartphone era. Do you have regular voicemail or visual voice mail? Any chance you may be able to export it as an audio file and save it that way?
