I am guessing Tim Cook (CEO @ Apple) knows.     Other than all we have is the rumor that there is a release announcement on Sept. 12 and that the phone will possibly be for sale Sept. 21 (from iMore.com)

Which probably got the news from a fansite much like everyone else, and not from their bosses who have the official information which are probably on a NDA not to tell anyone.
