Videos no longer play from within browser

Hi all

I've got a Razr Maxx and did the update (or downgrade, if you prefer) from GB to ICS about two weeks ago.  I'd really like to get GB back, at least it worked!

Lets see if I can explain this so it makes sense...

If I go to a website that has a video to watch, whether it's something like CNN new video or a YouTube video posted in an online forum or whatever, and I click on the video, the browser effectively locks up.  I can't use the back button to go to the previous screen, I can't click on any other link in the browser to go elsewhere, nothing.  I have to exit the browser completely.  I can't even watch YouTube videos on the YouTube site.  I can still watch them using the YouTube app itself, though.

At first I thought it was a problem with the Dolphin HD browser that I normally use, but it happens with the stock browser, also.

Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago.

Any ideas?  Anyone?  Bueller... Bueller...

Hello,

I found a solution! I had the same problem after the ICS update; i couldn't play youtube vidoes on the actual website (just the youtube app) and couldn't play abc.com videos. I tried a lot of different browsers and finally found one that worked.  Try downloading the Puffin Browser from the marketplace! Let me know if it works for you Smiley Happy

Maybe those videos are using Adobe Flash player. Do you know that Flash player will no longer be available for Android 4.0+ devices?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I can't tell you why, but I also could not watch videos on my browsers (stock and Dolphin) after the upgrade. I posted a question on the board. Someone said that they got videos with no problem. So, I checked again on both browsers using YouTube and CNN and saw videos. The only thing I can think of is that they sent a patch to repair that problem.

If you use an after market Browser, you also need to install Adobe Flash as ICS removed it from your phone since the stock Browser does NOT support Flash. I use Dolphin on my sons Razr Maxx with ICS and Flash on it and it plays the clips no problem.

Yup Flash was gone but I redownloaded it from the marketplace; didn't work; uninstalled and reinstalled it; didn't work; it only worked for me on Puffin browser.

I have had Adobe Flash Player 11 installed since the day I received the ICS update.

Everything was working fine until about 3 or 4 days ago, more than a week since the ICS update.  It just suddenly stopped working.  I've cleared the cache, I've done the soft reset and I've done the factory reboot.  It still doesn't work.  When I click on a video it starts to download, and then nothing.  The download symbol (or whatever it's called) just keeps spinning but the progress bar never moves and I can't get out of that screen except by exiting the browser completely.

Very frustrating.

Adobe has stopped development.  So if there is any changes within the software it is no longer verified to work with said device.  Adobe will remove Flash in August sometime from the market.  They are going to focus on Adobe Air.
