I think I lost my iPhone, which was turned off, in the garbage. Is there any way to turn it on? I just want to make sure it's not still in the house.

I've learned from this to never turn my iphone off. Turn the ringer down or off, but I might have located it if I had left the phone on. In the end, I need a phone and had to order a new one.

Even if the iPhone is turned off, as long as you have FindmyiPhone activated you will be able to ping it through iCloud, that is, through the Find my iPhone on the icloud.com website or the app, if someone you know has an iPhone and has the app on their phone.

You more than likely would have to do this within the first 30 minutes of losing your phone. Once someone does a factory reset the device is no longer connected to the clouds.
