Well, if the phone is on YOUR account, then YOU are responsible for any/all charges for the phone.
Does this girl still have/use the phone? If so, you can suspend the line WITH BILLING until she pays up. Then when the contract is up, you can cancel the line. If you suspend the line WITHOUT BILLING, you are just adding time on the end of your contract.
Or you can speak with the girl's parents who may be willing to take over the contract.
Or you can cancel the line and pay the ETF.
You can log into My Verizon. From your home page under "Usage" click on your plan description. For example, in my case, it reads "NATIONWIDE TALK & TEXT FS 1400". On the resulting page, you should have a list of the phones on you account. Select the phone in question and the resulting page "should" have the contract end date, although some have said their contract end date does not show up on this page.
If it doesn't, you should be able to call CS to find out what it is.
