We need to get your tablet up and running! There is an alternate master reset that will restart your device. It will erase the data on your tablet. Your information will be backed up to your Gmail account. I included a link with the steps:

Before I use your suggestion, another development happened that I'd like to tell you about. My tablet would not turn completely on or off; it froze with the "Verizon" logo in mid-screen. I left it as it was overnight & the next am it had shut off. I then turned it on successfully & it has worked fine since; although the battery was drained (& I know it was at least 90% charged when it froze).
My confusion is this: your suggestion is that I have to turn it off first & then press & hold the power & volume up buttons simultaneously to begin the restart BUT I cannot turn it off to begin the process; IT FREEZES !! Do I just begin as though it is off?
Is it possible to remove & reinstall the battery on this model? If so, how?
Hello beetle3379! First, I recommend making sure that your Nexus has the latest software. On your Nexus, go to Settings> About phone> Build number. You should see IMMK76K: CPI515.FC04. If you do not see this, go to Settings> About phone> System updates> Check now

I’m not sure if this issue got confused with another but the problem with this response is that I don’t have a Nexus. It’s a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Second, the issue is that it freezes at the Verizon logo at startup. I think you need to have a tablet functioning further than that to get to the menu choices you recommended.
