for those of you who might think changing to an iphone will eliminate your droidx/2/3 phone issues, take a look at the iphone forum.

oh I'd never get an iPhone on verizon.....I'd go back to AT&T to have it there, but then again I'd lose my unlimited data I ahve with Verizon and don't need to do that

I am not at all interested in the IPhone, but your statement got my curiosity up, so I checked it out. Hmmm! They appear to have problems very similar to the Droids...dropped calls, can't hear caller, etc. Very interesting. This brings up a question, IF two very disimilar mobile phones have the same problems, is it the mobile phones manufacturer, the mobile phones themselves, or the server...in this case...Verizon? Something to think about.

By the way, please don't get me wrong. I like Verizon and will not switch to any other server. And believe me, I've made the circuit. T-mobile, Cingular (before they were bought by AT&T), and AT&T. The only big carrier I've not been with is Sprint, namely because their coverage in my area is terrible, talking about dropped calls. If I were to give a star rating, Verizon would get five stars, T-mobile three stars, and AT&T one-half a star.

With all the dropped calls AT&T had I doubt the Verizon is the issue. I used have a Blackberry on AT&T and it was solid so I am thinking the real issue is the apps. I thought Apple had much tighter control with the apps.

I get just as many dropped calls with VZW as I did with AT&T but the iPhone on AT&T was solid for me. I never had ONE problem with it with regards to AT&T (I had more issues with it wanting to talk to iTunes than anything), but you are right....the apps are the problems. VZW puts too much crap on their phones IMO, and while yes Apple is much tighter on their apps, its what VZW puts on the phone to have their 'touch' on it. I don't think the Droid X would have the problems it has right now if it wasn't for VZW putting their little tweeks on it. Personally I think AT&T is more stock to their phones so that they work more fluid compared to VZW, whereas they use it more as a marketing tools to push apps that alot of people don't want (Madden, Blockbuster, etc)....but that's just my opnion

I cant see me carrying a iphone really because I never understood the hype with them..  As for dropping calls I can say so far Veri8zon has been pretty solid for me, Ive had a few drop calls but its a wireless network..  Wireless mean dead spots occasionally.

After what bad reception I have received from other carriers you wont hear my complaining right now, I'm not saying its perfect but works well for me in my areas.

I have an "X" but my wife and daughter both have iPhones.  To get the iPhones both my wife and daughter had switched from Verizon to AT&T. When Verizon finally got the iPhone, they both switched back to Verizon and we have one family plan instead of they having a family plan with AT&T and my individual plan with Verizon.  It was quite a bit less expensive.

Anyway, my wife had periodic dropped calls with AT&T here in Hawaii, but since switching back to Verizon, no dropped calls.  Can't say regarding my daughter though as she's going to college in Sacramento, CA and I've never asked her about her phone dropping calls. Although she has never complained with either AT&T or Verizon.
