Prepaid Plan vs. AT&T

On the surface, it would seem that the AT&T prepaid plan is 10 cents/minute with no additional daily charges. On the surface, it would seem that the Verizon prepaid plan is 25 cents/minute with no additional daily charges. What does Verizon offer/include for the extra 15 cents/minute, if anything?

TIA.

It would depend on who you talk to the most, Verizon people or AT&T people.  The prepaid plans are

$15-$29.99 expires in 30 days

$75-$99.99 expires in 180 days

$30-$74.99 expires in 90 days

$100 or more expires in ONE YEAR!

Mobile to Mobile, Night Minutes, Weekend Minutes and Per-Minute Rate are for use from within the Verizon Wireless Prepaid Rate and Coverage Area. Daily Access will be charged and deducted from your account only on days you make or receive calls and is valid until 11:59 p.m. Daily Access of $0.99 only on the pays you make or receive a call. Ten cents for each text sent and 10 cents for each text received and 25 cents for pictures  and $1.99 calls rated at per minute rate and other charges for available services on your prepaid plan may deplete balance prior to its expiration. You will not be able to make or receive voice calls if you do not have the amount required for your daily access. Your account balance will expire at 12:01 a.m. on the day stated at the time of replenishment. To carry your balance forward, simply refill your account before your expiration date. If balance expires, unused portion will be forfeited. Verizon Wireless will suspend your service when your account reaches $0 or your account reaches the expiration date. Unlimited Mobile to Mobile, Night and Weekend Minutes are not available when your account has been suspended. Limit of 4 calling plan changes in a 30–day period.

Texting Plans are $10.00 for unlimited  verizon to verizon and 250 text for other carriers, $20.00 plan is unlimited for everything. That is good for one month.

Thanks for your reply.

There is one plan that is 25 cents/minute from Verizon with no daily charge. There is also a no daily charge plan from AT&T for 10 cents/minute. Forget about charges for texting for a minute - just talking about voice. What does Verizon bring to the table over and above AT&T that enables them to get that much of a premium?

Depending on the particular person, some factors might include coverage, cost of messaging packages, phone selection, and having a wireless number that is free for other Verizon subscribers to call.  If you have an old Verizon phone laying around and rarely use your phone (which is where the $0 daily fee plan has value), that might be enough of a factor to sway you to choose Verizon over another provider.

Only you can decide if the cost difference between carriers is worth it to you based on the total package of what they offer.  For many people, I suspect that the AT&T plan may be a better fit.

Thanks.

Yes, I agree that Verizon's network is superior. But I don't really see any features that Verizon provides to it's pre-pay customers that justify an extra 15 cents/minute. That's a hefty premium. Another few cents a minute for a better network, sure.I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing anything.

Thanks again.
