I am using a Droid X.
When I turn on my phone, a female voice says, "Loss of service" and then says, "Verizon Wireless." The "Loss of service" audio message also occurs if I turn on the phone's Airplane Mode. Also, when the phone rings, the female voice says, "Verizon Wireless."
My wife has the identical phone and never hears these audio messages. I looked for a way to turn off these audio messages in "Settings" but I couldn't find it.
How do I turn off these audio messages?
Thanks.
Richard

The setting you're looking for is called "Enhanced Roaming Indicator" but on the Droid X I think settings just calls it "roaming tone". uncheck that and the voice should go away.

Go to Settings / Sound / Roaming tone and uncheck...
