You mean the reminder? Go into your Texting app, go to Settings, Notifications, and enable the reminder and set it to your preferred times.

            I have the same question.

I am a new Droid X2 owner and although my notifications are on and I can see when I have a new text or VM in the notification area, I cannot find a setting to make it keep beeping until I acknowledge the notification.  I have checked the notification settings and see no option for reminder you mention.  I only see where I can turn notifications "on" or "off".  For voicemail I cannot find any options.

What texting app are you using? In Handcent SMS, go to Settings -- Notification Settings -- Customize -- and Enable Reminders.

So you are saying I need a special ap to get reminder tones?  I am using whatever texting ap came with the phone.  My old dinosaur phone used to keep making beeps until I acknoweleged the text notification, I was hoping the Droid would do the same without an add-on since I like the texting ap it came with just fine.

Same thing with a missed call.  I would prefer the phone to make a beep/noise until I acknowledge I have a missed call.

                Thanks

I believe that you need an application too for the continued reminder of missed calls.

Yes, unfortunately with smartphones, many of the simple features such as reminders that older feature phones have, were replaced by Apps. That's just how it is with smartphones. You can find an app to do pretty much anything you want, though.

Okay, thank you, good to know.  I thought I was just missing something obvious.

There used to be an app called Missed Call.  It was great, but it's not available any more for some reason.  I've found Missed Reminder to work well.  You can keep using the stock texting application and set it to give you the initial notification for a text, but then Missed Reminder will give you a reminder sound or vibration at whatever interval you set until you view the text or the missed call log.

Just installed Missed Reminders on my X2 and it works fine. I use the Handcent messaging app which has good reminder notifications capabilities, but I disabled those and let Missed Reminders handle all missed calls and messages.

No stock notifications capabilities on the Android OS is a silly and glaring omission. Even the Moto Razr had that capability. Thankfully, this can be remedied with 3rd party apps. No, we shouldn't have to. Doesn't ruin my life to do so.
