My DIL is going to a contract phone and has a better prepaid phone than I do. She is going to give it to me when her phone arrives. What do I need to do to activate that phone as mine and what does my DIL have to do (if anything) to make it available for me to transfer my stuff to hers? I currently have the Pay as you go plan as I use it very seldom although I do text on it since it's only .02 a msg.

I have a similar question along these lines. I recently bought a Samsung Gusto pre-paid plan package to replace her aging Nokia, which she had when it was still offered by the former Alltel. If I want to transfer her old number to this one, do I still have to call the customer service line (like, after I set up the phone with a new account), or can I set this up during I activation?
Before transfering her stuff to her new phone save all your contacts and any info thats important to you otherwise you will lose all your information once the transfer to your phone is done. After she has done that you can call customer service at 1-888-294-6804 and have your old phone number transfered to the new phone you going to now, verizon usually charges between $25 and $35 to active a phone speak to the customer service person and ask if there is a activation charge. If you text alot you can get a $10.00 text package with unlimited verizon to verizon but 250 minutes to non verizon customers or a $20.00 package unlimited to everyone verizon and non verizon.
