Why do I need to pay for Network Extender?

    tonyfalcone

I've been exclusively a Verizon Wireless customer for over 11 years. Yearly I pay about $3,000 for my service, which I use for my business and personal use. Yet, I can't get a signal at my place of business, on the 10th floor in the middle of NYC! I get all bars in the basement of home an hour outside of the city! Plus, it's extremely embarassing when my clients complain that they can't connect and look at me for an answer why.

I understand that this can be remedied using the Verizon Network Extender, but why should I have to pay an extra $250 just to get the service I'm already paying for ? Plus, this extender uses MY internet connection, My electrcity , AND others in the area can use it too for free ? Basically, I'm extending Verizons' network at my expense.

You should supply this device at no charge to customers like myself who can't get service.

Verizon only gives out free extenders if you are not getting signal in your home, not your business. Since it would be for a place other than your home, you have to pay for it. And you usually have to pay for it in your home too, but some reps are nice and give them for free. Just depends.

As an alternative to the Network Extender, you may consider speaking with your employer regarding the use of a "repeater" at your place of business, which would also boost the signal you receive indoors. For additional details, you (or your employer) can contact our vendor (Juni) at 1-800/216-0466 or by clicking on the following link:

I'm complaining about having to spend $250 extra to get the service that I'm already paying for and you give me a link to a network extender that costs between $1,295 to $4,995 ?!?!?!

I'm self employed and have a staff of 1 (me). I pay for my service through my business which is the same address that my Verizon Wireless account is based and paid from, and it's the same address where I can't get a signal .

Tonyfalcone, I can understand where you as well as Roy are coming from. Roy understanding a need for a workplace offered an alternative option for you, your clients and other businesses together can benefit from. The network extender we offer is much less. The network extender being an accessory isn't discounted like phones/devices but there's no contract, no monthly fees. You can set it to allow specific numbers priority access to the network extender. Alternately, speaking outside of vzw products, you can search online other signal boosters. Keep in mind, we don't have the support to help you if you needed to troubleshoot a third party product.

You mentioned you've been on our network for many years. Did you previously have service at your workplace? Can any Verizon user use their phone? If no to both, it does appear signal is being interfered or blocked. Personally, I've been on high floors in buildings and had service. Possibly they already installed a signal booster but I'm not sure.

                Thank you

                  Dear VZW Team,

I think even for residential connections I believe it is charged. I am facing a frequent call drops and when I talked to the Call Center folks they told me about this Network Extender device but it isn't free but would be charged I believe.

Or am I missing something? I would be glad if a VZW helpdesk addresses this query and helps us out.

Technically it is not free, but some reps are willing to give them out for free to people who are having signal issues at their house. But yes, most reps will make you pay for it.

I moved to a new location about 2 years ago, still in NYC though.Never had a problem at my old location. Verizon offers free or greatly reduced phones when you're contract is up, why not this extender ? Anyway I also posted this on Twitter and someone from Verizon is looking into it for me. Thanks

deepaknet, you are correct when stating there will be a charge for a Network Extender. The device is not included with your service, as we provide wireless services in areas within range of our cell sites. Structures such as buildings, stores, homes, all interfere with the signal that is not intended for indoor use. If you wish to increase your indoor coverage, then you have a need for a network extender. I am sorry these devices do come at a cost.

                        Thanks,

3 of my friends have AT&T and all got their network extenders for free. Switch services. My wife and I have been loyal customers for 7 yrs and saddly are switching over this. Its unacceptable to pay so much and not be able to use your phone in your own home.

It uses my electricity and my internet to preform a service that VERIZON should be providing. That as a customer you also pay for and top dollar i might add... I pumped verizon constantly but now Im on the loosing end of all the arguements of cell phone providers and who is better. Sucks.
