moving from app to app

is there a way to move from app to app without having to close the currant app?

Example: reading a book in kindle and needing to send a text. Is there a way to do that without having to close my kindle app and opening my text message and then having to reopen kindle to continue reading?

Thanks

Try holding down the "home" key...the hard key at the bottom of the phone. That will bring up 8 of your most recently used apps.

My pleasure.  Glad I could help.   If what you want is not listed as one of the 8 most recent, you might be able to simply click the 'home' key from whatever app you're using and get to what you want.  Then long press on the home key to get back to what you were doing.  Using your example, you're in Kindle and want to send a text.  You long press on the home key, but the text app is not one of the 8 most recent.  Click normally on the home key and go to the text app.  After sending your text, long press on the home key, and your Kindle app should be listed in the 8 most recent, and you should be able to get back to reading.....I think.

Thank you again. I love my DroidX. It does so much. I still have a lot to learn and can almost always find my answer here or post and get the answer.

Thank you for taking time to help us who are still learning

My pleasure.  I'm still learning too.  In fact, I learned how to go from app to app on this forum...it was a response to a question I asked!

True loydroidx, learning is cool. I knew about the long-press Home button function, but never thought to use it for this purpose. Really speeds things up.
